We’ve had lots of fun, a day out at the national railway Museum in York was a particular highlight. Would totally Recommend it for a fantastic family day out, entry to the museum is free, parking is about nine pounds but to be fair If you are getting free entry you don’t mind paying it! It was feb half term and the hogwarts express was there. As you can imagine the boys were VERY excited! Unfortunately we queued an hour and a half for a two
Minute ride, slightly disappointing really as we had to rush on and off the train because of the queue sizes. We met Harry and dumbledore and Harry even commented on jack’s mohawk! There was plenty of space to eat our picnic and we had a full day there. The boys loved the bullet train, although jack doesn’t look impressed in the picture above! We will definitely be returning I think!
We’ve also done lots of walking and walked the teversal trail the other day. Luke’s turned into a mountain goat and insisted on climbing every hill and embankment along the way. We managed to get away without andy scrapes and bumps too which is a bonus.

It’s the Easter holidays now so no doubt More photos will be added as the fortnight progresses

Enjoying the weather……

April 22, 2010

Now I’m working during the daytime (I forgot to update that I now work as a community Development assistant instead of working as a waitress) We’re enjoying the sun after school more than we used to be able to. By the time the boys had finished at school before it was time for me to go work. Tonight we’ve been enjoying the sun and have had a nice trip to Vicars Pond in clipstone and a play on the park. Its nice to be able to do this and enjoy the evenings and then come home have a quick bath and bed.

The boys are enjoying having both Mummy and Daddy in the evenings too instead of Mummy walking out through the door just as Daddy walks in.

Luke’s enjoying his time with his Mummy in the afternoon’s too. He goes to daycare for 2 afternoons a week then the other three are mummy and Luke time. I’ve really noticed a difference in him since Jack has gone to school and they are haivng some time apart. they “seem” to be getting on better. Luke’s coping really well with the longer days and I actually think he’s enjoying going to nursery in the morning then PLA in the afternoon.

Jacks doing well too. After he struggled so much to settle into nursery (He basically screamed every morning for about a year until Luke started nursery with him) I was worried that we would have the same problems at school. He’s been the total opposite! Totally proven me wrong. I’ve had a few o the Mums who help out in school telling me how niely behaved he is in school and how much he makes them smile lol. His imagination is as fertile as ever as you can tell from this post https://nemma.wordpress.com/2010/04/20/theres-a-volcano-erupted-in/

All in allI’m very proud of my little man! although I refuse to admit that they are not so little anymore. Jacks five in June and Luke will be four….. Growing up so fast!

Jesus Lives in our bathroom….

April 14, 2010

During the holidays Jack was in the bathroom getting his face washed and his teeth brushed (Not really washing the bathroom from ceiling to floor and covering everything in water… Honest!)

Anyway I could hear him chuntering away to himself about various things that 4 year olds talk to themselves about. Five minutes or so later he marches straight through into the middle room walkes over to Luke and says:

“Luke Derner! (complete with pointing finger) I have been talking to Jesus and he says I have got to tell you to be quiet because you are giving me a headache!”

Poor old Luke didnt know what to say. He’d been sat playing really nicely on his own up tll that point and looked quite perturbed to be getting a telling off from jesus for something he hadnt even done lol.

So there you go… We have Jesus in our bathroom!

Day out at Sherwood Pines….

October 29, 2009

I took the boys for a bike ride in Sherwood Pines yesterday, heres a few pics I took of the park. I was playing around with the different settings for the camera on my phone too, hence some being odd colours and panoramic etc

Luke’s first day of Nursery.

September 8, 2009

Today we’ve hit another milestone!

My littlest little big man has been to big boy nursery for the first time. He’s been to pre school once a week for a few months now but its been his properl first session in a new nursery today. Luckily Big Bro was there to help him out and show him what to do etc. We had a few tears (Not mine either) when we left but I don’t think we’ll have anymore tomorrow (fingers crossed) and he had finished crying within about 15 minutes. The teachers all know Luke as Jack is already at nursery and he knows and likes them all!

Daddy came in to take him for his first session too and after we’d dropped him off I headed off to the playgroup I’m volunteering at from now on every tuesday and Karl went off to work.

When I went in to pick him up at 11.30 both boys were full of smiles and Luke immeadiatly started telling me what he had been playing with and said he’d had a really good time. We then headed off for a celebratory dinner with Grandma at the garden centre so he could tell her everything that he’d been up to and have lots of hugs and kisses.

I’m really pleased he settled ok, I had been worried that he would scream for the whole session but he did really well. All in all I think it as a sucess!

Really really proud of him!

Jacks First year at school.

July 23, 2009

Is now officially over! We’ve had screaming fits, crying when i left him, Funny stories that he’s told his teachers, major decisions about whether we are going to take monkey or racing ted with us to cuddle and Lots of other things inbetween! Jacks first sports day was last month, then we had a shorts and shades fun day last week to celebrate the end of the year.
Jack has made lots of new friends, three little girls in particular. He has become really close to them and unfortunately we had a few tears on Wednesday when he finally realised that his three bestest friends will be moving up to big girl/boy school in september.
However, He’s been consoled a little bit by the fact that major change number two will be happening too in september….
LUKE STARTS NURSERY!!!!
Wahoo! Five morning’s week to myself! I can go shopping without them whining constantly and arguing, I can clean the house without wasting my time because as soon as I clean something up they get it back out. I can have a HOT cup of coffee! lol.
Basically my time is my own!
So what do I do? Volunteer two mornings a week for sure start lol. I’m quite looking forward to it. I’m going to be going in to help with a group on a Tuesday morning. The other morning is going to be flexible as to what day I’m going to be working. Hopefully I’ll be going into various groups and talking to parents about whats going on in various centres. I’m quite looking forward to it. I’ve been kind of doing this for a while. I’m part of the Parents and Carers Committee already and have been handing out leaflets at school and talking to parents about whats going on, which groups there are etc etc. It’ll be something to get my teeth into, something a bit more challenging than taking orders from people and clearing plates away.
Luke’s really really looking forward to starting at school. He’s been ready for the next stage for months. We had his visit a couple of weeks ago and he loved it! I think its helped that he knows the teachers and room through us dropping Jack off. Its a familiar place and all that. The only sad thing about it is that we wont be going to as many groups at sure start. Virtually since Luke was old enough to crawl we’ve been going to groups up there. the last year or so we’ve been up there at least three times a week! We’ll still be going but only for messy play on a Thursday afternoon.
At least theres the holidays!
Anyway, Now I’ve finished waffling, here’s some of my fave pictures from the last year or so!

Water fights and sheep Shearing!

May 26, 2009

We’ve had a brilliant bank holiday weekend.
We had a trip into town on saturday afternoon and i took a change of clothes and a towel for the kids so they could go in the fountains in the market place.
I bought the water pistols so they could give each other a really good soaking!

We then had a quick trip to Forest Town park. There used to be 3 parks near my Mum and Dads house when we were little, now theres one and it takes at least half an hour to walk there with my two wandering along at snails pace. It’s such a shame. No wonder so many children are obese these days!

Sunday was a very hectic day. We got up and went to Hardwick Hall Farm Shop to watch the sheep shearing. Jack wasnt so bothered but Luke was fascinated. He loved the pig pens too, (They stunk)
Karl and Jack headed off into mansfield for the suit fitting for Aarons wedding next weekend while we stayed to watch more sheep being sheared. I think Lukes favourite part was watching some of the sheep jumping once they had got rid of thier heavy fleeces!
Heres some pictures, The one of th big black pig really doesnt show how huge he really was!

Once we’d finished there we headed into town to meet Karl and Jack. Kids were bored while they were trying suits on so we took them for a quick splash in the fountains……
Sorry Emma and Azz, they got slightly wetter than we thought! lol

New pics and a quick update…

March 10, 2009

Heres some pics from the last few weeks/months so you get a vague idea as to whatwe’ve been up to.
Kids are growing up quickly. We’re rapidly realising that Luke has my temper and that Our two little toddlers are growing up quickly!!!!!!
Mollys still keeping us on our toes and Im busy at work. The window tinting is picking up again so fingers crossed this year will be better than last.

Whoopsadaisy Angel 2008

Whoopsadaisy Angel 2008

Heres Jacks costume for this years school Play. It was whoopsadaisy angel and thankfully he didnt miss it because of his operation the Friday before.
Everyone was really good, No accidents apart  from a snowflake becming slightly attached to ahoops a daisys halo nothing went wrong.
We were really proud of him! it did suddenly dawn on me that this time next year both of them will be in nursery and I will (Hopefully) have my mornings free!
How time flies, it seems only two minutes ago that I was finding out I was pregnant with Jack and now Im going to watch his school plays

“Its like a little christmas miracle”

December 15, 2008

Not to sound too cheesy but that’s exactly how one of Jacks teachers described his sudden change in mood at school last week. He’s stopped crying when I drop him off and even takes his coat off and goes and sits himself down in group time. Apparently he’s joining in with things more, speaking to the other children and just generally a much happier little boy at nursery.

Whats bought about this sudden change? Well a week last friday ago he had the operation to fit bilateral grometts (In both ears in other words)

He went in at 7.30, went to theatre at 10.30, and by 11.30 was sat up in bed eating toast like he was starving! We were home by 2pm and you really wouldn’t have guessed he’d had anything done. He was a star all the way through. Really good. He just sat and watched them while they put the drips into his hands and never flinched apparently. All in all we’re really proud of him.

Since he’s had it done we’ve definately noticed a difference. He’s not saying “Sorry?” every time we say something to him because he’s not heard us. He also responds better to people and seems happier.

We’ll just have to see how much things improve for him, but like Someone else has said, so far its been like our own little christmas miracle!
