Elf Yourself!

Ok so its that time of the year again. I know its a little early but we’ve been to a local garden centre today to find a nice christmas display to wander round and put us in the mood… (The one we chose was very dissapointing but thats another story)

Here’s what I’ve spent the evening playing with!

Christmas and New Year…..(Its a long post so grab a cuppa!)

Firstly Hppy New Year to everyone who reads the blog!

As you’ve probably guessed from the lack of decent updates here recently, its been pretty manic since Molly came to live with us!

Christmas morning was an early start, 6am!!!!!!!!!!!! As you can imagine, after 4 night shifts at work, I was shattered and the kids werent too impressed with being up at that time either! The reason we got up so stupidly early is because we were expecting a visit from santa at 7am bringing more presents that had been let at Mama’s and Grandad’s house instead of here.

Santa finally turned up at 8.15 after Karl rang him to see where he was. We were told that Santa had decided not to get us up early because I’d been at work late. Brilliant you might think? Only problem was that santa didnt bother to actually tell us, so we had two shattered hyper kids sat there waiting for santa arriving and two iritated parents!

But ho hum!

When he did arrive the kids faces were well worth the early morning I thought Jack was going to cry he was so excited! We’ve got some lovely photo’s of them sat on his knee. I’ll post them up later or at the bottom of this post.

By this time we were struggling to see our living room floor at all, there were so many presents!

later on in the morning we went up to my mum and dad’s for dinner, By this time the kids were twigging onto the fact that today was present day, so were becoming experts at unwrapping them at lightening speed!

We never know what My Mum and Dad are getting the kids, so you can imagine how surprised we were to find that santa had bought them a train set with a big table to keep it all in. Thankfully this was a “stay at Grandma and Grandads” toy! God knows where it would have fit in our house lol

For about the first hour or so, all other presents got ignored despite or best efforts to distract thm from the train set! lol.

more presents were unwrapped and there was a brief visit from Uncle Frank and Auntie Pauline with lods more pressies!

Dinner as usual was lovely. This year my two cousins had dinner with us rather than tea which meant they got to see the kids properly, I dont thikn James has ever met Luke properly before! lol (James finished Uni in Hull this year, and Alex has started at Lincoln this year)

After an afternoon of relaxing (pffft, fat chance with my two running round!) we went up to Karls Mums, madness as usual, but nice to have everyone together. (apart from danny, lesley and the kids who didnt want to drive)

I think it was about 9ish that we got home, the kids had a quick play with new toys then toddled off to bed. To be honest I dont think we were far behind them!

Boxing day we had a lazy morning before heading off to my Auntie Jeans to see her for an hour or so. She had bought the kids some gorgeous pj’s, really soft brused cotton ones that they look really nice in! She was babysitting her friends grandson, Luke was extremly confused as to why there was a baby at Auntie Jeans!!!!!!!

We left there and headed to Karls dad’s. We dont speak to them often and Karl hasnt really had much to do with his dad’s side of the family for years, but we recently had a christmas card from his cousin Jo so at least knew a couple of people there. We didnt stay late as it was my staff chrsitmas do.  Karl nipped up with me for a bit with the kids, then he came home while I staggered around sutton for a bit. (staggered being the operative word!)

Other than that the whole christmas period had been quite busy, We’ve been to Meadowhall a couple of time, and it was Karls birthday yesterday so me and the kids got up and dcorated the car with balloons.

Not really much else to tell to be honest.

Its my new years resolution to update the blog a bit more though. Now the pups calming down a bit I should have a bit more time!

So Happy New year everyone! Hope you all had a good christmas!

All the best for 2008

Just some quick photo’s

Sorry for the long time no decent update situation. Stuff’s been pretty manic here recently with Christmas so Ive not had much time.

Just wanted to post some pictures of an event we went to last monday called The Magic of Christmas at the Birmingham NEC. If nyone stumbles across this while trying to find out more info about it then I would definatly recommend going! It was fantastic! the kids are still talking about it  week later and we’re planing on going next year. we went on a weekday as I got free tickets that could be used during the week. it was relativly quiet when we firstarrived and got busier as the day wore on, but still was quiet enough for us only to have to que a couple of times for stuff. Most of the time we could just walk straigt in.

Anyway, here are the pictures from the day.

Update

Sorry havent posted for a while. To be honest life in the Derner household has been pretty boring. Im now back at work and the kids have been snotty so we’ve not really done much.

Jacks discovered chrismtas this year with a bang. Everything is, “Santan this, santan that……” We’re hoping to take him to see santa this weekend. I cant wait to see his face when we go see him!

Im also currently “aquiring” a copy of the snowman by raymond briggs.

We’re hopefully picking Molly up this weekend. She’s our Springador Puppy, I’ll try and post some more up to date pictures as soon as I have them. She will be 8 weeks old on sunday and is gorgeous!

Suggestions for christmas please…..

Im looking for somewhere to take the kids for  christmassy treat.

Cant be too expensive as there will be all four of us going and whilst its nice to go to the big events, they are still little so I cant see the point in spending a fortune on something that they wont remember in a couple of weeks time! (Tight arent i?)

If anyone has any suggestions as to local events that are nice to go to then please post them underneath,

Cheers in advance!
