I have just had my ultimate nightmare at work!
I work at a local sports club doing a few evenings a week and a couple of full nights where i have to lock the building up etc.
The main part of the shifts been brilliant, we’ve had a good group of staff on, its been busy enough to pass quickly and everythings gone well.
Until it came to locking the building up that is.
Ive done the usual stuff, made sure everythings locked and turned off etc etc. Gone out the front door to lock it and put the shutters down, First thing I noticed is that the outside big floodlights are off, occasionally they trip but its absolutly pitch black outside as its quite far away from the main road and other houses. Thought nothing of it until it came to locking the front door. The lock wouldnt budge in the door. I tried, and the girl I was with tried too. Neither of us could do it. Went back in and tried to ring my manager, she didnt answer so we decided to bite the bullet and ring the People who Are in complete charge of the club.
Went into the office to find thier number and Emma followed me, couldnt get through to them either. As i put the phone down we heard banging outside in the members bar. Its not a place thats got drafts or has anything anything that could bang so they were definatly noises like someone else was in the building. We immeadiatly locked the office door so that if anyone WAS outside they couldn’t get into us.
We rang 999 and literally minutes later the police turned up. They had a good check and said that if anyone was around chances are we frightened them off by me shouting to Emma to lock the door. They checked internally and externally and said that there was no-one around.
It took them about ten minutes of trying to frce the lock to work for them to operate it! Eventually they managed it and agreed with us that it could have been forced back and tampered with. There were just to many coincedences.
Also last monday one of the other girls said that she had had a white transit van driving round and watching her lock up. They drove off eventually but she was frightened and luckily had her boyfriend with her.
Im convinced that someone has been watching the place and planning this.
Im NEVER locking up on my own again, and if somethings not done about it I will be very surprised!
I’m just goig to add that I dont spook easily, Ive worked in some rough pubs etc and dont normally let things like a few noises bother me, but this was completely different. Its now over an hour later and I can still hear the blood pumping in my ears and my hand is still shaking!
Robin Hood and the Pirates…..

One of the boys favourite films at the minute is the Disney version of Robin Hood. Luckily we live near to Edwinstowe (Where the major Oak is, Robin Hoods “Home”) It takes us about 30 minutes or so from here to get there and this last week it was the annual robin hood festival.
If anyone lives near Nottinghamshire they should definitely try and get to this event with Kids. Its Brilliant!!!!
The boys absolutely loved it, we watched puppets, spent hours looking for Robin Hood (only to run away as soon as we saw him), bought the obligatory Robin Hood Hats, had a picnic in the restaurant at the visitors centre, watched musicians wandering round performing and Jack even had a run in with a dragon! (I think this was the highlight of the day!) We unfortunately missed the jousting display as were too busy trying to carry all the money Jack had pinched from the bank (Don’t think he quite got the whole idea as he even pretended to get it out the hole in the wall lol)
The boys went dressed up, Jack has a peter pan outfit that we adapted slightly and made him look like Robin Hood, and Luke went as Robin Hoods Pirate friend!
We had a brilliant day. Parking was a bit of a nightmare as the parking stewards didnt seem to know exactly what to do with such a huge amount of cars, but other than that we had a brilliant time. If anyone is considering going next year then I would recommend giving yourself the full day there and taking a picnic!
Heres the info for this years festival so you can see the sorts of things going on.
Four bloody Hours…..

Four Bloody hours Ive been sat in A&E today! Lukes dropped something on his foot and with the speed it turned purple at, added to the fat that it was swollen and he wouldnt stand on it, I decided a trip to casualty was needed.
It took me forty minutes to park, then I sat for another hour Just waiting to see the triage nurse!!!!!!!!!!!
I swear to god Kings Mill Hospital gets worse and worse, the thing that really gets my goat is that the triage nurse is sat nattering away with her door open while us idiots are sat there waiting! Then we had to wait another hour and a half to see a doctor so he could tell us the inevitable, “He needs xrays!” Wow, the mans a genious! Give him a medal! Why the triage nurse couldnt decide this I’ll never know!
Another half an hour in xray, lots of screaming from a very upset Luke and we head back off to casualty for another hour while they look at his xrays.
Might I add that during the last hour we were there I had to go change Luke, to do this I had to go into the back of the treatment area to get to baby changing. Sat there drinking coffee and reading books were 4 nurses, and two doctors! One of the doctors was muttering about being disturbed and having to put his book down as we came back through.
Welcome to the NHS people!
If I could afford it, we’d definatly go private! mainly so we could get away from the incompetance of the morons calling themself medical staff at that place!
Conclusion in the end?
Luke has a bruised foot. His xrays have come back clear luckily. So forthe pleasure of 10 minutes treatment, we’ve sat in a not very overcrowded waiting room waiting for four hours!!!!!!!!!

Im looking for somewhere to take the kids for christmassy treat.
Cant be too expensive as there will be all four of us going and whilst its nice to go to the big events, they are still little so I cant see the point in spending a fortune on something that they wont remember in a couple of weeks time! (Tight arent i?)
If anyone has any suggestions as to local events that are nice to go to then please post them underneath,
Cheers in advance!

Yesterday we (Me, the kids, my Mum and Sister Vicky, ) all went to sundown near retford.
I can vaguely remember going here when I was younger (except it was pets corner then)
While I was walking round I started to remember certain “rides” such as the animal playground and some of the little houses.
Would toatlly recommend it to anyone who has kids/neices/nephews etc etc under the age of ten.
It was brilliant!
Here’s some pictures I’ll get some more off Vicky later
(Im also starting to get annoyed with the fact that this site wont actually show some pictures that Ive uploaded, I keep uploading the bloody things and getting red crossed boxes!)

*Edited to include pictures!*
Well Saturday was spent at one of the kids favourite places, The Kids club in Huthwaite. Its a bit soft play/run riot/run their batteries down place. Its basically a huge room with a big fort based on a pirate ship and castle and tower. There’s little tykes cars to play in, slides, ball pits and climbing frames. There’s also a little cafe in the same room for Mum and Dad to have a coffee in whilst the kids tire themselves out.
Jack is in heaven when we go here, he gets to play in loads of cars! Yesterday we went with Sarah and Ellie, Ellie is older than my two (Is she 5 Sarah?) and she was running round like lightening. I got the chance to have a quick catch up with Sarah (Well more of a shout a each other across the chaos!)
I also let Jack have a little bit more freedom than I have done on previous visits, he could run around without having to keep close to me. He’s at an age now where he wants to go explore a little bit more so he was up and down slides on his own, and playing wherever he wanted instead of keeping him close.
Luke has figured out how to push himself along in the toy cars now too so he spent ages doing that. He wasn’t quite so impressed with the slide leading to the ball pit though. I had a go though as you can see below! Karl came up after he had finished work so he was soon roped into climbing across walkways and sliding down slides too.
All in all it was a good way to spend the afternoon. The kids were shattered by the time we left and it was well worth the £4 it cost us for a good couple of hours worth of playing.
*****Update April 09 – The Kids club has been bought by new owners since I typed this and some of the itmes I speak about in this post have been altered. I’m only updating this because I seem to get a few hits from people looking for information on huthwaite kids club. Its not got a big Space themed area that has slides and a ball pit and loads of climbing stuff, Still WELL worth a visit!*****
