New pics and a quick update…

Heres some pics from the last few weeks/months so you get a vague idea as to whatwe’ve been up to.
Kids are growing up quickly. We’re rapidly realising that Luke has my temper and that Our two little toddlers are growing up quickly!!!!!!
Mollys still keeping us on our toes and Im busy at work. The window tinting is picking up again so fingers crossed this year will be better than last.

“Its like a little christmas miracle”

Not to sound too cheesy but that’s exactly how one of Jacks teachers described his sudden change in mood at school last week. He’s stopped crying when I drop him off and even takes his coat off and goes and sits himself down in group time. Apparently he’s joining in with things more, speaking to the other children and just generally a much happier little boy at nursery.

Whats bought about this sudden change? Well a week last friday ago he had the operation to fit bilateral grometts (In both ears in other words)

He went in at 7.30, went to theatre at 10.30, and by 11.30 was sat up in bed eating toast like he was starving! We were home by 2pm and you really wouldn’t have guessed he’d had anything done. He was a star all the way through. Really good. He just sat and watched them while they put the drips into his hands and never flinched apparently. All in all we’re really proud of him.

Since he’s had it done we’ve definately noticed a difference. He’s not saying “Sorry?” every time we say something to him because he’s not heard us. He also responds better to people and seems happier.

We’ll just have to see how much things improve for him, but like Someone else has said, so far its been like our own little christmas miracle!

Drayton Manor Park – Thomas Land!!!!!

As we’re both off this week we decided to take the kids to Drayton Manor Park for the day so we could have a look at Thomas Lnd and take the kids to see the animals.

Even though it was chucking it down we enjoyed every minute! The kids were amazed by all the thomas themed rides and Luke had a really close encounter with a tiger! They even managed to get me on a rollercoaster! lol (Ok, so it was a kids one, but it still went really fast! lol)

They do an offer during the week in term time meaning that toddlers and a parent get in for £14, so it cost us £28 for all four of us to go. Normally the tickets cost £23 each for an adult so it was a bargain!!!!!!!

Would totally recommend the place to anyone who has thomas mad kids like us. we all really enjoyed our day!

Highlights were the tourblesome trucks rollercoaster, the animals, the boat ride in thomas land, and the Pirates adventure (A boat ride through different pirate scenes with a bit of a flume and water splash, I got soaked and had to walk back to the car with a wet through bum!)

Im having one of those wobbly lip moments….

Its suddenly dawned on me that this time a week tomorrow my handsome gorgeous little man will be starting his first day at big boy school. Thanks to Richards post about his little girl starting school http://onegeekspeaks.wordpress.com/2008/09/03/entrusting-the-world-with-another-of-my-offspring/

I am now sat here with the sudden realisation that my little big man starts nursery a week tomorrow. He’s about to go into a whole new chapter of his life, one where he wont need Mummy as much and will have stories to tell me that didnt involve me being there! Ive got to admit, as excited as Ive been about him starting Im now starting to feel quite sad that my precious time being the centre of his world is over and done with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How will I cope? Im already in floods thinking about it, and I admit I used to be one of those people who laughed at parents gushing about how proud they were when thier children started school and how they cried when they left them at the door…. Now Im facing being one of them!

Another (not so) quick update….

Thought I had better update you on whats been going on here….

Having a good day today. Had an email through yesterday offering us discounted tickets to Playhouse disney live in nottingham. VERY discounted tickets, a quarter of the price to be exact!!!!

Instead of them being £20 each, they are just a  fiver! So in effect, you buy one ticket, get three free lol.

Madness!

Anyway, we’re booked to go see it the day after Jacks birthday (Good timing eh?) for the 5pm showing.

I honeslty dont know who’s more excited, Me because of seeing the kids faces, or the kids becasue they are going to see Handy Manny etc etc

Anyway, enough with the smug faces…

Its suddenly dawned on me Ive not updated this for ages properly and need a post to catch up

Jack went for a hearing test again yesterday. He suffers from glue ear (Too much fluid in his ear canal) He did very well and for the first time really understood what they were asking him. He played the “games” well, did what he was told and even had them all giggling at his reactions. He let the doctor check his ear and didnt flinch once! (A huge improvment from last time) I think it helped that I had been pretending to be a doctor looking in his ears before we went in, and explained what would happen beforehand.

Apparantly his hearing is “adequate” but if it stays at the level it is at the minute WILL need some sort of intervention. Something to drain the fluid from his ears. Im guessing gromits. It could affect his learning ability in school as he struggles hearing things when theres a background noise. We are goin back in four months time to test again, as he has a cold at the minute, and then we will see what happens.

The positive thing is, that now something actually seems to be happening about it. His speech has improved 200% recently, he actually holds conversations with us rather than just talking gobbldygook.

Another positive thing is that I have regular hours at work, I can budget better, and I can plan my time and the kids routine more. I also am able to take them with me for half an hour till Karl can pick them up after work.

Jacks started pre school one afternoon a week and is settling in really well. He whinges a little bit when we leave, but by the time we’re walking round the outside of the building he’s off and playing with whatever toys are out that week (I can see him through the window). He actually asked to go this week and wasnt impressed when I said he had to wait a few hours!!!!

Lukes clingyness is wearing off a little bit. He still wants me if he’s tired or hungry, but he’s trusting a few more people now. Before, he would sit on my knee for the first half an hour of visiting anyone, including my mum and dad, and Karls Mum and Stepdad. Now he’s happy annough to run off and play at theier house straight away and will even follow certain friends around. I cant wait till he starts pre school, its going to be difficult I think because he wont like me not being there to start with, but hopefully he should soon settle.

Our house is almost ready for selling though thank god so we can move out of this shitty area and hopefully move somewhere that world war three isnt starting every two minutes! Im desparate to move in some way, but am wondering wether we should hang on because of this supposed credit crunch dropping house prices….

Other than that, not much to report really…. Ive been busy trying to find stuff to decorate the rooms with for thier party. I spent about two hours last night making bloody invitations!!!!!

(They do look good though!)

Picture update….

Been so busy recently its unreal.

Cant really do a full update but here are some recent pics.

You can get the general gist of whats been going on from them.

Went to Mum and Dads van last week for a couple of days. Karl stayed at home and me and the kids went with a friend and her little girl.

Other than that not much to tell really. Weathers been gorgeous so we’ve been out and about as much as possible. The kids are virtually living in thier UV sunsuits. So much easier than having to try and wrestle them to put sun tan cream on every hour or so!

The Pictures of Jack and his grandad were taken while they were testing out the new wii fitness board. Jack wanted to join in so he had a “Jack Board” made from an argos catalogue! lol. He thought it was brilliant because he could do the same as Grandad!

Its all about imagination……

Jack has suddenly discovered a whole new little world that exists completely in his head.

In this world there is a little Jack (and Ditchy and Blane) sized house in one corner of my Middle Room. This house has an up and downstairs, needs lots of deshtation (decorating to us mere English speaking mortals), has a gate (an old safety gate) and houses enough different vehicles of one sort or another to make even the most flashy of cribs stars jealous!
At the last count there was a train, a motorbike, a car and even an aeroplane AND a helicopter!!!!!!

This house can also be packed up and moved to whatever location Jack is in at the current time, and the cars etc are summoned just by thinking about them.

Jack has various visitors throughout the day although regular visitor’s include aunty vicky, D and Unca Blane. Luke is allowed to play in there too although I don’t think he has quite the same enthusiasm yet.

Dinner is served whenever you want and normally consists of pasta followed by Jam on toast and a good glass of the finest Juice asda has to offer.

So in summary, I think we can safely say that Jacks imagination is now in overdrive and he keeps us all entertained listening to him natter away to his latest guests…….

I wish I was 2 again so I could live in whatever house I wanted!!!!!!!

What do you get if you cross….

Two excitable kids an old travel cot and 2 bags full of playballs?

Utter chaos! lol

Mollys been banished to the front room for a bit (Where she’s lay watching tele and enjoying the peace and quiet) and Im sure Im gonna be finding bloody plastic balls everywhere for months! lol

Potty Training for two please!!!!!

Last week I bought Jack a thomas the Tank Engine Potty training chart. We’d started training him a few months ago, but it had ground to a halt a little bit with the arrival of Molly Puppy. After all, the last thing we needed was bits being bitten lol. Try explaining that one in casualty!!!!!!!

Anyway, its been a roaring sucess! Within five minutes of it arriving Jack had used his potty, then again about half an hour later!

Luke being Luke and being a clever little so and so, quickly cottened onto the fact that Jack got loads of praise for using hi potty and stickers too.

So,,,,, a couple of days ago, he proudly came running over and asked to use the potty. humouring him I took his nappy off and stuck him on it.

I almost dropped to the floor when he proudly stood up and announced that he’d “done wee wee”

19 months old and he’s ready for potty training!

He’s used it twice today, so we’ve used the back of Jacks chart (Thank god its two sided) and been sticking him stickers on every time he’s used it.

Im so proud of both my little men! Jack seems more interested and enthusiastic this time, and Im sure that the healthy dose of compettion is helping too.

Tonight it was very strange walking into the living room and seeing both boys plonked on potts. As you can ee from the photo below, Jacks approach is slightly more relaxed than Lukes! hehe
